"Who Are The Police At War With?"
If these gun owners of western New York attending an information meeting in Buffalo on the NY-SAFE gun law are any indication, Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) has opened a huge can of worms that will have all sorts of unintended consequences. Who would have ever thought there would be talk of armed militias in an overwhelmingly blue state like New York?
Malitia? Maybe tomorrow. Today we are called Volunteer Fire Departments, Bowling Teams, Church Groups, Snowmobile Clubs and things like that. Push us and, sure as snow in Upstate New York, we WILL organize and you can call them whatever you want.
WE will call ourselves Free Citizens!!! Do Not Tread on US!
So, in the words of some of our down state brethren (to the State) Back the F'k UP! Mo-Fo!!!
You will loose this in the courts or in the streets.
I think the police officer who shouted "Bring it on" needs to be made the face of ANY attempted confiscation. Name and shame. For a cop to come out and say something so unprofessional in a public venue, should mean he faces disciplinary action.
"Bring it on." That kind of statement does nothing but reinforce the perception of the police being at odds with the citizenry. If they back the enforcement of unconstitutional laws confiscating our firearms then they become the enemy of the people. There are a LOT more of us then there are of them. The Police forces should carefully consider where they stand on these issues. A knife gets a revolver, gets a semi-auto pistol, gets a semi-auto rifle, gets a full-auto rifle. God forfend this situation should ever happen. It will get ugly, and no one knows where it would end.
You might be amazed if you knew just how many of our police officers are on OUR side. They are, after all, citizens just like us, with civilian spouses and children that need protection, not only from Washington, but from other, more easily identified criminals who wish us harm. Take heart, there are more Oath Keepers around us than you think.
While I appreciate your sentiment, this is not even close to being the end for Son of Mario & his ilk. I live in WNY, and basic math dictates that we are woefully undermanned vis-a-vis NYC/LI and the legions of "takers" that live there.
I would instead offer that it's high time we, as a state, had an open, honest discussion on splitting the state: roughly at the I84 corridor, or Dutchess/Sullivan/Ulster counties northern border, or Rockland/Westchester counties northern border.
I hope none of the liberty-minded folk who have the misfortune of living downstate/NYC/LI are offended by my earlier statement; you are always welcome in WNY.
The us military stabilized iraq, beat everything AQ and the insurgents sent at them and established a new democracy. The insurgents lost because they were vicious fascists fighting people who were free (western forces) and their allies, who wanted to be free (Iraqi citizens). Liberty wins in the end. Don't be intimidated. These people are cowards, for all their bluster. If you are willing to stand up and fight, you will always beat these crawling, gnawing, fascist maggots in the end.
I'm a cop of 38 years, NRA Life Member and a Handgun Carry Permit Instructor. I think the NRA and NY gun rights need to strenously oppose exemptions to the SAFE Act for LEOs. If law enforcement needs ARs and standard capacity magazines, so do lawful civilians. What some law enforcment officers do not realize is all gun owners are in the same boat.
The cops are at war with citizens, whom they call "civilians" even though cops are also civilians, and the military is not allowed, by law, to operate inside the United States.
ci·vil·ian [si-vil-yuhn] noun 1. a person who is not on active duty with a military, naval, police, or fire fighting organization.
Federal troops are not allowed to enforce law inside the US due to Posse Commitatus, but National Guard troops on state orders can. This is one reason National Guard forces handle a lot of disaster response, besides the extensive commitments of the federal force to overseas venues.
Depends on what your definition of civilian is.... ...The term "civilian" is also often inappropriately used metaphorically to refer to people who are not members of a particular profession or occupation, especially by civilian law enforcement agencies, which often adopt rank structures emulating those of military units.
I just hope that Rahm Emanuel and Pat Quinn watch this video and understand that they will face the same, if not more, resistance if they keep trying to push gun control in Illinois.
The Progressives love to change definitions to suit themselves, as when they added police to the older definition of (non) civilian: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civilian The term "civilian" is also often *inappropriately* used metaphorically to refer to people who are not members of a particular profession or occupation, especially by civilian law enforcement agencies, which often adopt rank structures emulating those of military units.
or more recently, as Obama did to support his drone assassinations: http://news.antiwar.com/2012/05/29/analysis-how-obama-changed-definition-of-civilian-in-secret-drone-wars/
Oooh. Bad comparison. The Whiskey Rebellion was crushed (by Washington?). This is bigger, much bigger. If we don't keep our 2nd Amendment rights, then we may as well lie down in our graves now.
If I didn't know better I'd say this was filmed in Idaho or Wyoming. Way to go New Yorkers, you're an inspiration.
For 20 years I lived in the Buffalo area. The city is "blue" but it is surrounded by a sea of red. There are many, many NY State gun owners there who will not sit by and allow Cuomo to seize their legally acquired weapons in violation of the 14th amendment. Why should retired police officers be given self defense weapons not allowed for other citizens? And the 2nd amendment.
I recently lost all my weapons in a tragic canoe accident. I suspect that many Western New Yorkers will be taking canoe trips of their own.
NY Stste is deep blue based on the population in NYC and its burbs. Once you get 60 miles outside the city the mix changes significantly, unless you are near a college. Yes, socialist Ithaca, I am talking about you. Folks in western NY have more in common with with a citizens from Idaho than they do one of Bloomberg's supporters.
We have more people sitting in prison than any other country; we already live in a police state. Hell I got pulled over Saturday night for doing just barely 5 mph over the speed limit and the first question out of the cops mouth was, "Have you ever been arrested." I just turned to him and repeated the question back to him in perplexed confusion. I really couldn't understand what that had to do with speeding. Hell 5 mph over doesn't even carry a fine, it's just a warnabled offense. Yet this cop was fishing for a way to cart me off to jail. We need to break the back of the prison industrial complex.
We register our cars, cookies track our movements on line, our social security number is used to keep track of our tax and financial records, why do you think simply registering your gun is such a horrible infringement on your liberty? Most of you are responsible gun owners right? You want to keep guns out of the hands of criminals right? Wouldn't it be nice to have some way to track how guns get into the hands of criminals with such ease? This law would simply make it easier for law enforcement to find the criminals involved in the trafficking of illegal guns into our state. If you want to hunt a deer in NY State, there's a whole series of rules and regulations. You can't just shoot any deer can you? Only bucks of a certain size, only at a specified time of year, even the type of weapon is tightly regulated. We accept these rules because we understand the goal is to keep the deer population healthy and to limit accidental shooting of our fellow hunters. How is it we're willing to accept these things to protect animals we consider a food source but we freak out over attempts to protect people from gun violence? And make no mistake, that's the goal. Governor Cuomo may not be your cup of tea but he's not part of some vast conspiracy to take away your guns.
It is against my 2nd amendment right. To register is the first real step toward confiscation. Study Austria, Australia and Great Britain. I will not comply.
The law will not keep guns out of criminals. Background checks to prevent some people from gaining access to firearms is like checking ID to prevent underage drinking and smoking.
How long does it take your average high school dropout to find a way to light up while drinking a beer?
If you want to punish those with a strong tendency for violence who do get their hands on guns that is a different discussion. But there is no preventing them from getting guns. It does have a chilling effect on the exercise of a specific enumerated right by those who would use them legally.
Who is the pig that says, "Bring it On"? We need to get him ID'd and shamed into Canada ASAP. If you don't know the name I feel a little crowdsourcing effort coming on. A facebook page, "Name that Pig" ought to do the trick.
God bless the good men and women of western NY. I was contemplating returning to NY, where I am actually from(Long Island), but after this act by the tyrant Cuomo I will not be leaving the more firearm-friendly Florida. I urge you folks to make sure that any jurors in a court case involving the now felonious ownership of PROPER magazines be advised of the Constitution, and their power to nullify. God bless you all; wishing you the best.
When trouble knocks down your door light 'em up like a Christmas tree! They may take out a few of us, but we won't be going quietly into that good night....
The anti-constitution hags are the rebels and in the wrong. Carry on patriots!
This is an interesting article to read. -http://dailyreckoning.com/when-they-come-for-your-guns-you-will-turn-them-over/ What will you do when they come for your guns, I know I'll be one of the dead.
I live in New York State, and I think a perfect solution would be for all you gun owners to be required to spend a mandatory thirty hours a month acting as bodyguards for ordinary citizens. You want the privilege, you shoulder the obligation.
I suggest, then, as a driver in New York State you be required to spend thirty hours a month acting as a driver for ordinary citizens. You want the priviledge, you shoulder the obligation.
I already do that. I consider myself a sheepdog, and rarely go out in public without my sidearm. I would gladly use my firearm in defense of a total stranger if the situation warranted it, in addition to my obligation to defend myself and my family. Oh, and by the way, self defense is a right, not a privilege.
What makes you think we don't already protect those around us by the very nature of posessing firearms in the neighborhood? Well, it's hard in the area Ganett decided to out, but the very uncertainty of a homeowner being armed is what makes it work.
It's not a privlige. It's a right.Get it through your thick head.
Well done Veterans! Keep those self-righteous ba$tids who are trying to take your firearms accountable!
The Second Amendment gives me the right to bear arms regardless of the reason - whether its hunting, defense or pretty on the mantle. Don't mess with my guaranteed constitutional rights!
Disarming the innocent does not protect the innocent!
On January 15 2013 The line in sand was drawn. Enough already it's gonna stop right now these so called leaders are the real terrorists! We the people have spoke, they woke the sleeping giant. For over 200 yrs. many men and women died for our freedoms let's not let those brave patriots deaths be for not!
Please never forget on election day how these cowards took away our Rights and shit on The Constitution. It is is time for Restoration!
The sentiments spoken at this meeting are echoed throughout the United States - and I hope irresponsible politicians everywhere are listening. This country is primed for militias, and they will come from all walks of life and every corner of each state in the United States!
To those of you who attended, were photographed and spoke, you are probably already on the list....
The officer that said "bring it on" needs to be outed and called to account pronto!
Thank you Veterans! Thank you patriots of the United States! God Bless America! Long may our flag wave!
Oh, did Cuoma open up a Can of Whoop Ass!

I may be mistaken, but I do believe that the 2012 and 2013 NDAAs do away with Posse Commitatus.
