The National Shooting Sports Foundation's #Gunvote campaign just released an ad nailing Gov. John Hickenlooper (D-CO) for his lies and evasions. The ad doesn't pull its punches.
It's a good ad. I don't know whether this is just a YouTube video or one playing on Colorado TV stations. I hope it's the latter.
Out of touch, or paying back those who gave large $$$?
ReplyDeleteThat ad won't play on TV. It does not include the mandatory statements and attribution required by anyone engaging in political advertising. Yes, it credits "NSSF", but it has to have a specific statement.
ReplyDeleteThey could add one and run it, but at 60 seconds I doubt it. Given the choice between running 30 or 60 seconds political ads, you always go with the shorter one. It's better to run more 30 second ads than a few 60 second ads (the rates are not half of 60, but they are appreciably less). And yes, I have bought and paid for statewide political advertising in print and media.
Good ad, but it could be better if they were targeting fence-sitters. The community to which it speaks already knows the story - this is just a reminder of why they need to vote. That's another reason to keep it off the air: you put on air messages to convince a fence-sitter, not as a reminder. I think the NRA has done some effective ads that target undecided voters. Those need to be supported.
