Is Your Congressman On This List?

238 Congressman have signed the letter from Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) opposing the BATFE's ammunition framework and proposed ban on SS109/M855 5.56x45 62-grain ammunition. According to the press release from the NRA-ILA, they worked with Rep. Goodlatte on securing support for the letter and will be working with Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Chuck Grassley (R-IA) on a similar letter from the Senate.
Fairfax, Va. – In an overwhelming show of bipartisan opposition, 238 Members of the U.S. House of Representatives have signed a letter to the director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, opposing the Obama Administration’s attempt to ban commonly used ammunition for the most popular rifle in America, the AR-15. The National Rifle Association worked closely with House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) to gather signatures on this critical effort.

“This letter sends a clear message to President Obama that Congress opposes his attempt to use his pen and phone to thwart the will of the American people,” said Chris W. Cox, executive director of the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action. “Obama said he would enact his gun control agenda ‘with or without Congress.’ He is now trying to make good on that promise. The NRA would like to thank Chairman Goodlatte and all who signed the letter for opposing this unconstitutional attack on our Second Amendment freedom.”

The NRA is working with Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) on a similar letter of opposition from the U.S. Senate.

I had been wondering just who had signed the letter and if my Congressman was one of the signatories. After going through the list, I find both my former and current Congressmen have signed on to the letter. Ten out of the 13 North Carolina Representatives have signed the letter which pleases me.

To see whether your Representative is on the list signing the letter, either use the link above or view them in the pictures below. If your Representative did not sign on to this list, I'd be asking them why not. I do notice that the gun control industry's favorite House Republican Peter King (R-NY) is conspicuously absent.

  1. Letters to BATFE from Congress. It’s what Congress does when they want to pull the wool over gun owners eyes and make it look like they’re doing something, when they’re actually doing NOTHING.
Congressional letters to Executive branch agencies aren’t worth the paper they are printed on and gun owners are allowing ourselves to be DUPED by Congress.

Want something done? It’s time to attack and remove the dreadful ‘sporting purposes’ restrictions everywhere they exist. No more excuses, no more double talk, no more stupid letters to BATFE that do nothing. Congress CAUSED THIS PROBLEM, now it’s time Congress fixed it.

    1. Congress could also de-fund the BATFE. That would get peoples attention, but I won't hold my breath.

  2. My representative: Vicky Hartzler, (MO-4, R) is not on this list. I have sent her office a message asking for a reason. If I get a reply, I will post it here.

  3. Martha McSally (2nd dist - AZ) is on the list.
She's the one who booted Gabby Giffords crony to the curb. He won the sympathy vote the first go around but even people around U of A can come to their senses.

  5. Mine (Frank Guinta, NH-1) is on the list -- near the top, too. BZ, Frank. The Alternate Fire Position's rep is not, but he's a moonbat D like the one Guinta defeated, Carol Che-Porter. NH-2's rep (we're a rural state, only get 2) is a moonbat also and she's conspicuous by her absence. Her district is drawn to include the state capital and the welfare centers of Manchester and Gnashua. But I didn't see any names I recognized as Ds. I guess that this is one of the "buts" in the Democratic position, "I support the 2nd Amendment, but."

  6. Mine is in the list, but a "sternly worded letter" is going to be as effective against this bunch as tissue paper is at stopping M855/SS109.

  7. Doesn't matter, the most recent ATF Book of Published Ordinances, released prior to the ban announcement, had already removed M855 as legal. Anything now is just bread and circuses.

  9. Neither my mislabeled "representative" nor either senator signed.
Writing to any is a waste of paper and ink.
