A Safety Reminder From NSSF
There are many ways to store a firearm when not in use. The National Shooting Sports Foundation video below goes over a few of those. I am in the market for one of those quick-access lockboxes myself.
One thing I might note. If we don't take storing our firearms safely seriously, someone aka big government will do it for us and I doubt they'd get it right.

Actually, government can't do it, per Heller. Any requirement that guns be locked up was expressly ruled to be unconstitutional: "Similarly, the requirement that any lawful firearm in the
ReplyDeletehome be disassembled or bound by a trigger lock makes it impossible
for citizens to use arms for the core lawful purpose of self-defense and
is hence unconstitutional. "

I remember my father saying in the 1970s we had to give up on the "military style" weapons or the government was going to do it for us. Love him and cherish his memory, but he was wrong.
ReplyDeleteWe need to fight for the right to do what we choose - some choices are better than others, but if we fall on private ownership rights, we will eventually fall completely.
There is nothing wrong with encouraging someone to do something, but if we villainize it if they don't follow through with our beliefs, the gov't will gloom on to that to make their standards regardless.
Right to keep and bear means the right to keep as one chooses, period. We have to be absolutists when it comes to the 2A. Any crack will be exploited.
