S. 34 passed its Third Reading with no new amendments which is good.
The bill now goes to the State House where its companion bill, H.52, has three primary sponsors and 26 co-sponsors. On a side note, the three primary sponsors are Democrats which shows that party label is not the key ingredient in support for gun rights - at least in North Carolina.
UPDATE: Here are the voting results with the roll call on S. 34.

John, I thought the companion bill was H 74...I just wrote personal letters to the following State House of Representatives Judiciary Committee, urging their support of the Castle Doctrine H74 and S34, I guess now I'll need to send out some additional correspondence..

@Tom: H 74 was the second - and when introduced - the stronger of the Castle Doctrine bills. H 52 was the mirror bill to S 34.
ReplyDeleteWhat we want is either H 74 or the amended S 34 language.
So should I send additional correspondence to the H52 House Judiciary Committee members asking them to support S34 as ammended or to include H74 and S34 language?
ReplyDelete@Tom - Supporting S34 as it passed the Senate would be easiest. It has already passed one hurdle and the House would just need to approve the Senate bill.
ReplyDeleteAsking them to support H74 would also be good.
