Magazine Versus Clip

Greg Hickok - Hickok45 on YouTube - has come out with a short video showing the differences between a clip and a magazine. You wish this would be required viewing for every journalist or politicians who decides to opine about banning "high capacity assault clips" in the wake of the Newtown shootings. As Greg says in the video, he doesn't know of any clips that hold more than 10 rounds.

This would also be a good video to share with your newbie shooter friends who may have rushed out to buy a firearm for the first time in the last month or so. It will help them learn the correct terminology and feel a little less like a neophyte.

  1. While it is an irritation to those of us who know the diff. You are not going to win any hearts or minds over the terminology while the gov runs over top of us banning anything that holds more than 7 rounds of 22LR ( Yes Cuomo Awipe NY is down to 7 ) The public does not much care about the term assault weapon ether.

  2. I don't care one whit what they call it. Communication is about the exchange of information. They say "clip" and I know precisely what they mean by it. No confusion. Taking umbrage at things like this would distract us from the much bugger picture.

Hickok is doing good work here and I am not criticizing it. Gunnies can learn some things from him. But politicans...?

No. I'd much rather they listen to words that could change votes, than about how they are getting the technical jargon incorrect.

Ummm, what? This guy is some sort of hilljack "gun expert"? You are citing this individual as some sort of expert witness?

What about the Japanese Type 92 HMG (The Woodpecker) with its 30 round clip for starters?
