Interesting Interview With Duane Liptak Of Magpul

Cam Edwards of NRA News interviewed Duane Liptak of Magpul yesterday after Gov. John Hickenlooper (D-CO) signed HB 1224 into law. Mr. Liptak is the Director of Product Management and Marketing for Magpul.

Mr. Liptak had a number of interesting comments during the course of the interview. First, Magpul will be going with a multi-state, multi-location manufacturing approach. While they haven't released just where they are going, certain sites have already been selected. They plan a phased move out of Colorado with the magazine manufacturing being the first part of their company to move for obvious reasons.

When asked about their current employees and the impact the move will have on them, Mr. Liptak said that many of the current employees had expressed a desire to move with the company to the new locations. He seemed rather gratified by this loyalty of the employees to Magpul.

Magpul met with a number of state legislators during the fight against HB 1224. While Magpul presented facts and legal opinions as well as stressing the economic repercussions of the bill, this didn't seem to make any headway with a number of the Democrats. Mr. Liptak noted that every time they went to the state capitol, they always ran into lobbyists from Bloomberg and MAIG. He said they were everywhere. It is a sad day when a New York billionaire can buy a western state legislature so easily. It reminds one of the railroad barons in Frank Norris' The Octopus so dominated California of the late 19th century.

  1. I urged them to follow thru and leave the state. Colorado is toast due to illegals and liberals flooding in. How many of their employees would be criminals under the new laws? I assume they get an employee discount on magazines. The company was exempted this year, but what about next year? After all, possession of the hi-cap (standard cap, really) would be illegal under the law, even as you manufacture them.

  2. We fought! We flooded the capital, sent letters, made phones calls, and sent 1000s of emails. There just aren't enough of us left in CO to fight the good fight.

How do you stop the flood of parasites coming into the state?
I guess all we have left is to abandon this state to the jackals

  3. I am also sorry to hear about the sad state of affairs in Colorado. If those of you who decide to leave the peoples republic of commierado and decide to make you way into the free state of Wyoming, please beware. Many of us jeer at those license plates and some may do more to them. If you do move here please let us know you are not one of the californian liberals that invaded your state. Also please do not come here and want to change it to be like it was where you came from. I moved many years ago to be part of Wyoming, not to change it from where I left.

  4. All Freedom-loving, Constitution-respecting Coloradans are more than welcome in the Great State of Texas!! Y'all come!

P.S. The smoked brisket is great too!

  5. No need to move, time to have Colorado counties vote to rejoin the Republic of Texas. I suppose Colorado would shrink to the size of metropolitan Denver. So be it.

  7. Having lived in Denver and Colorado Springs during the 80s and 90s, the front range leftist agenda of graft/corruption was in full swing even then......control everything, (NOT) but accoumplish nothing, Denver was known by the state's residents as the armpit of Colorado. The highest taxes, worst, GOVERNMENT, HIGHEST FEES, POLLUTION OUT OF CONTROL. Corrupt everything so you are 'left' with one choice, "VOTE WITH YOUR FEET" A pefect example of the inmates running the institution.

  8. Only been through the Denver airport a couple of dozen times. The people I have met from CO. have been a wide mix of VERY liberal, stoner types or conservative, rancher/farmers. God help those of the latter category! What to do if your families heritage is located in a state going down the proverbial crapper? Organize, if you say you've already done that, then look around at other allies you might not have considered before. If you can't retreat, then fight with everything at hand: Politics, economics, anything!

  9. What in the world has happened to Colorado? You expect this kind of legislation in the Communist states of New York, New Jersey and well, all of those northeastern states minus Vermont and New Hampshire. This legislation will hopefully come back to haunt the Colorado democrats and send them all to an early retirement, preferably in California. After all California is the failed model for their failed governance of Colorado. Good riddance. Hooray for Magpul for not putting up with their crap. Good luck in your new location(s) and I will be supporting you with many future purchases manufactured in Free States

  10. Magpul: You are welcome in Michigan. We have people willing to work and support the Second Amendment.

If you choose to have no sales to states or agencies with Draconian gun laws, we'll happily buy what you might have sold to them.

  12. We have the America we wanted. We voted these people in and we seem not interested in voting them out.
    We deserve what we got.
I was born and raised in Asia and grew up at the wrong end of an AK47 and came here LEGALLY for our freedoms and everyhing else America stood for then. But its not the same country now, we are overrrun with stupid people who seem to get everything they want from those who steal from us via whats called taxes.
Where I came from they took everything at the end of a gun but here they steal it also, just not with guns....yet.
Shame, we got what we wanted. Yes the grass is always greener over the septic tank.
